smbauth compile instructions

Here are the instructions to compile smbauth version 1.5.1, from http://tekrat.com/, to use with the authSMB Xaraya module. If this file is no longer available from http://tekrat.com, please Contact Us. Please read the entire article if you are having problems with Fedora Core 5/gcc 4.0. Note: KevinP dropped a line to say http://tekrat.com is down. I have provided a 11MB zip file that has the smbauth1.5.1 and samba-3.0.0 source code here.

Note : There seems to be a problem compiling the samba source code on Fedora Core 5, gcc-4.0 specifically. See this article for more info. To summarize: 1. edit the files samba-3.0.0/source/include/popt_common.h and change the lines: extern struct poptOption popt_common_samba[]; extern struct poptOption popt_common_connection[]; extern struct poptOption popt_common_version[]; extern struct poptOption popt_common_credentials[]; to: extern struct poptOption *popt_common_samba; extern struct poptOption *popt_common_connection; extern struct poptOption *popt_common_version; extern struct poptOption *popt_common_credentials; and edit file samba-3.0.0/source/lib/popt_common.c and make the same changes to the structures in that file. Pay attention to the changes you are making, removing the brackets [] and adding an asterisk * to the structure declarations. Now you should be able to compile the samba source code. Thanks Andreas!
